The Reality Labs team is building products that make it easier for people to connect with the ones they love most. We are a team of world-class experts developing and shipping products at the intersection of silicon, hardware, software, and content. The Reality Labs team seeks a Silicon Prototyping (FPGA) Engineer. Our End-to-End (E2E) proto team enables this testing by creating systems from a mix of off-the-shelf components, internal IPs and SoCs at various maturity levels, and representative mock-ups for new investigations. A successful candidate will be a FPGA/Emulation platform builder, comfortable working on boards, sensors, displays, RTL design/verification, CV/ML/Gfx algorithms, virtual platforms, OS/RTOS kernel and driver software and architectures, and who hears “it's too early” as a personal challenge. The position requires a developer, able to debug and extract solutions from vague descriptions of system architecture and workloads, who also builds impactful relationships across teams to find ideas, assets and assistance to explore faster.
- Own IP/SoC pre-silicon deployment efforts and ensure timely delivery of FPGA systems to end users.
- Create proof of concept at system and application level for silicon that does not yet exist.
- Develop prototyping strategies, including hardware architecture, component selection, software enablement and mitigation approaches for maturity issues.
- Come up with solutions to effectively model the end-systems using FPGA (or Emulator, Virtual Platform, and other prototyping means).
- Work closely with product engineers, algorithm engineers, software engineers, architects and designers to quickly prototype new end user experiences and features.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in Computer Science or similar relatable field.
- Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
- Expertise in RTL development for custom FPGA prototypes/designs and proficient in Verilog, SystemVerilog.
- Solid understanding of FPGA logic synthesis, partitioning and routing and timing closure for FPGA prototypes/designs.
- Experience in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, TCL and programming languages C/C++.
- Experience building FPGA prototypes mixing FPGA/emulation based designs and off-the-shelf components, system debug with logic analyzers, scopes, meters, protocol analyzer, etc.
- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with IO’s such as MIPI CSI & DSI, USB, PCIE, LPDDR.
- Knowledge in SystemVerilog for design and verification, chip architecture, µArchitecture, design and UVM design verification experience.
- Experience working effectively as an individual and in a multidisciplinary international team.
About Meta:
Meta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses. When Facebook launched in 2004, it changed the way people connect. Apps like Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp further empowered billions around the world.
