Position Summary
As the FP&A Professional within the Finance Team, you would report to the CFO, but frequently interface with the corporate management, practice group leaders, and accounting department personnel. This role is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, and analyzing the Company's financial data firmwide and on a practice group level. This requires a broad understanding of both accounting and business operations, but more importantly, an understanding of the Company's historical performance and the key assumptions and trends that may impact future performance.
Position Overview
- Support the Management Team and Practice Group Leaders with data-driven analysis
- Work closely with IT, the CFO, and accounting department personnel to enhance the usage of the accounting ERP (Deltek Vantagepoint)
- Design reports and dashboard using business intelligence tools that aid the understanding and communication of project health and Company financial performance
- Develop financial models and visual tools (charts and graphs) to analyze, benchmark, and monitor past financial results and business trends of key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics and identify the cause of any unexpected variances
- Regularly interact with operations, marketing, and accounting department personnel to understand our business operations and projects to facilitate the analysis of the financial data
- Run the annual budgeting process and assist in developing the operating and financial plan required to achieve management's strategic initiatives
- Produce monthly forecasts and financial projections that show the expected future performance of the business
- Prepare monthly financial reports for leadership such as financial statements, variance reports (budget vs. actual spend), and statements of cash flow
- Assist in preparing periodic reports for the Board
- Analyze account data for review by CFO and other departmental managers
- Prepare certain journal entries in support of the month end close
- Maintain spreadsheets to support financial account balances
- Prepare ad-hoc business performance reports for activities such as firmwide meetings and employee ownership month and various requests from leadership
- Act as a resource to management regarding financial analysis
- 8+ years of progressively responsible financial roles
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business management
- Familiarity and/or experience with contract accounting in a professional services environment, ideally in architecture or engineering industry
- Ability to communicate and explain complex accounting principles and findings through effective through data analysis and visualization
- Proficiency in a Windows environment and knowledge and experience with business intelligence tools is essential
- Experience working in Deltek is preferred
- Travel to conferences and Ayers Saint Gross offices as needed
