Foster Care Supervisor
Texas Family Initiative, LLC is a private nonprofit organization that provides experience, compassion, quality care, and services for children in Foster Care and foster/adopt families. We hold Foster Care Recruitment Contracts with the Texas Department of Human Services, Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS). As a partner with DFPS, we recruit and train families to become foster and/adoptive parents.
Qualifications
This position requires the completion of required background checks, record of tuberculosis screening. (Reflecting employee is free of contagious TB), completion of a notarized Licensing Affidavit for Applicants for Employment form, and agreement to comply with mandated reporting requirements and Chapter 42 and 745 of Minimum Standards for Child Placing Agencies. The employee must be physically, mentally, and emotionally, capable of performing assigned tasks and have the skills necessary to perform assigned tasks. In the absence of a more specific rule requirements, demonstrate competency, prudent judgment and self-control in the presence of children and when performing assigned responsibilities.
The minimum age requirement for this position is 21 years old.

As a Foster Care Supervisor, you will be supervising the Foster Care Services staff assigned. Promotes the well-being of children in the Foster Care Services program, participates in staff meetings and trainings and coordinates with staff from other agencies involved in providing Foster Care Services. Performs the following duties directly or through subordinates.
  • Supervises the Foster Care Services Workers assigned to the region, including less qualified or experience employees, if any, including planning for employee's professional development and taking any other appropriate action regarding their child placing decisions. Provides administrative expertise as required.
  • Reviews and approves child placement activities as outlined in Minimum Standards for Child Placing Agencies.
  • Provides approvals for required documentation including, but not limited to: assessments/admission forms, placement documents, home studies, investigative reports, corrective action plans, service plans, discharge/transfer plans, and restrictions imposed on children/communication/visitation.
  • Ensures the accuracy, content, and completeness of child case/family files.
  • Participates in the planning, programming, and budgeting of the Foster Care Services Program.
  • Participates in the development of short, intermediate, and long-range plans and goals for the Foster Care Services Program.
  • Participates in the development of Foster Care Services Policies and Procedures.
  • Assists in the orientation, assessment, and verification of foster parents, Familiar with and/or have the ability to train in state-approved foster parent pre-service training.
  • Maintains a close working relationship with public and private agencies involved in providing Foster Care services and/or support.
  • Conducts home visits and attends case planning conferences, when necessary, at required intervals.
  • Provides family support and in home visitation services.
  • Ensures 24 hour, on-call support is provided for regional foster parents. Provides crisis intervention as required.
  • Coordinates community resources for the benefit of children served by the Foster Care Services Program.
  • Coordinates with intake staff on the placement of children in need of care and emergency placements.
  • Manages a caseload of Foster Care Services placements, as needed.
  • Ensures children are placed in properly trained and licensed homes.
  • Completes documentation and forwards reports containing descriptive, analytical, and evaluative content.
  • Coordinates with the Agency's licensing and training staff to ensure regulatory compliance by foster parents.
  • Coordinates staff from external public and private agencies, on the delivery of services to children and families.
  • Develops and implements procedures and controls to promote accurate and timely information flow.
  • Refrains from assuming any duty that is unrelated to and/or interferes with the responsibilities of the position.
  • Provides regular supervision and professional development of Agency employees.
  • Advocates, promotes, and practices cultural sensitivity and responsiveness in all day-to-day interactions.
  • Develops, promotes, and practices teamwork in all activities.
  • Conducts program orientation and on-the-job training of staff assigned.
  • Provides information to the responsible agency on all matters related to the child/family.
  • Will be required to drive personal or agency vehicle while transporting children or conducting agency business. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must meet agency underwriting standards while driving agency vehicles and/or transporting clients.
