Forklift Technician

KOAM Material Handling is a company that provides high-quality material handling solutions for various industries. We are looking for material handling technicians who can perform diagnosis, repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting on various types of material handling machinery and attachments, communicating with customers and supervisors, and promoting a positive reflection to our customers and industry.

As a material handling technician, you will need to have:

• 5 or more years of equipment repair experience or equivalent technical education and experience combination.
• Good driving record (Field Service)
• Good English communication skills (verbal and written)
• Good working knowledge of the internal combustion engine, electric motors hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and technology systems
• Ability to read, trace, diagnose apply electrical and hydraulic schematics to complex machine systems.
• Ability to use computer diagnostic tooling and manufacture software systems when diagnosing and repairing equipment.
• Ability to work individually or as part of a team, including coaching and mentoring technicians as needed.
• Willingness to continue the education offered by KMH and vendors.
• Must have your own tools.
• Must show up for work at the scheduled time.
• Adherence to KMH core values and policies
• Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, and other MS Office programs.
• Ability to use office machines (fax, copier, computer, etc.)

You will also need to be able to:

• Drive to customer locations to repair forklifts and other material handling equipment (Field Service)
• Conduct periodic maintenance services for the customer.
• Examine forklifts and other material handling equipment, assessing the repair situation at hand, considering your skill level, safety, and the hazards of the job.
• Be able to determine if you will need additional help.
• Use a multi-meter and laptop computer.
• You will also be responsible for completing all electronic data entry and paperwork.
• Thank customers for their business, including asking them if they are happy with the service received.
• Assist the service manager with various tasks.
• Maintain a clean workspace and/or truck.

The working conditions for this position are:

• Walking and moving about on foot often on uneven terrain.
• Working outside where the weather can get hot, cold.
• Lifting over 50 lbs.
• Hands/arms operating equipment, working with your hands, and power tools.
• Raises or lowers miscellaneous equipment parts and tools.
• Extends hands and arms in any direction.
• Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist.
• Remains in standing position if required for certain repair or maintenance work.
• Climbing in and out of equipment
• Read work orders, lookup parts, able to read service books, read and interpret wiring diagrams and be able to operate heavy equipment.
• Proficiently communicate by radio, phone, and in person
• Hears well enough to discern mechanical problems, listen for safety in and around shop and construction sites and to receive communication by radio, phone, and in person.
• Be able to lay in a prone position under vehicles and equipment for repairs or maintenance work.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
