Forge Helper (2Nd Shift)

Job Title: Forge Helper
Location: South Gate, CA 90280
Rate: $17/hr-$19/hr – depends on experience
Shift: 2nd shift: 2:00pm - 11:30pm Monday through Friday
Length: Length: 4-6 month contract to possible hire depending on attendance, performance and business needs.
 
3 must haves:

• GED/HS diploma and 4-6 months experience in manufacturing
• Must be able to speak and read English
• Must be able to pass a background and drug screen

 
SUMMARY

• Assists workers engaged in fabrication of forged products by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• In performing functions, duties or tasks, employees are required to know and follow safe work practices, and to be aware of Company policies and procedures related to job safety, including safety rules and regulations.
• All functions, duties or tasks are to be carried out in an honest, ethical and professional manner, and to be performed in conformance with applicable Company policies and procedures.
• In the event of uncertainty or lack of knowledge of Company policies and procedures, employees are required to request clarification or explanations from superiors or authorized company representatives.
• Knows the roles and relationships of each member of the press or hammer crew and where they are and their responsibilities during the operation of the press or hammer.
• Basic ability to read and understand shop traveler, operating procedures, daily production reports and other work instructions.
• Sweeps dies, operates all furnace controls (door, hearth and car), cleans and lubricates dies, funtions as scale blower and operates tools required to set dies and trimmers.
• After a predefined training period is completed, has gained a basic knowledge of materials and forging practices; safe operation of floor manipulators.
• Sets up and uses impression stamps.
• Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
• Performs other routine duties.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively in one-on-one situations with supervisors or other employees.
