Job Title: Forge Helper
Location: South Gate, CA 90280
Rate: $17/hr-$19/hr – depends on experience
Shift: 2nd shift: 2:00pm - 11:30pm Monday through Friday
Length: Length: 4-6 month contract to possible hire depending on attendance, performance and business needs.
3 must haves:
- GED/HS diploma and 4-6 months experience in manufacturing
- Must be able to speak and read English
- Must be able to pass a background and drug screen
SUMMARY
- Assists workers engaged in fabrication of forged products by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- In the event of uncertainty or lack of knowledge of Company policies and procedures, employees are required to request clarification or explanations from superiors or authorized company representatives.
- Knows the roles and relationships of each member of the press or hammer crew and where they are and their responsibilities during the operation of the press or hammer.
- Basic ability to read and understand shop traveler, operating procedures, daily production reports and other work instructions.
- Sweeps dies, operates all furnace controls (door, hearth and car), cleans and lubricates dies, funtions as scale blower and operates tools required to set dies and trimmers.
- After a predefined training period is completed, has gained a basic knowledge of materials and forging practices; safe operation of floor manipulators.
- Sets up and uses impression stamps.
- Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
- Performs other routine duties.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively in one-on-one situations with supervisors or other employees.
