By joining the Division of Forestry/Forest Management Branch/Nursery Section as a Forestry Equipment Supervisor in Morgan County, you will have the opportunity to provide technical and mechanical support to the Nurseries' Environmental Control Supervisor and Forestry Program Specialists with equipment-related needs.

By joining the Division of Forestry/Forest Management Branch/Nursery Section as a Forestry Equipment Supervisor in Morgan County, you will have the opportunity to provide technical and mechanical support to the Nurseries' Environmental Control Supervisor and Forestry Program Specialists with equipment-related needs.
Holders of the Forestry Equipment Technician position will complete tasks such as:
- Supervises the use and maintenance of Forestry Equipment, and inspects equipment for safety, service needs, and general appearance.
- Maintains inventory of nursery equipment, and prepares and maintains service records.
- Assists when necessary in all aspects of nursery operations.
- Maintains security of the Morgan County Nursery, and oversees the nursery's building and grounds maintenance.
- Assists branches with wildfire suppression and other projects as required or assigned, and serves on the division's mobilization team during wildfire and all-risk emergencies when needed.
- Ability to work independently
- Effective communication, organization, and documentation skills
- Proficient knowledge and use of tools, equipment, and information technology
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: High school graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have five years of forestry and/or equipment maintenance and repair experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Vocational school in the field of automobile or diesel mechanics will substitute on a year for year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess a valid driver's license prior to appointment in this classification. Upon employment, must furnish to the agency's appointing authority title documentation that he or she possesses a valid commercial driver's license or a valid commercial driver's license commiserate with the type of commercial vehicle being utilized by the agency. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Working Conditions
Travel will be required. Incumbent will be exposed to hazards associated with working on light or heavy equipment. Work can be under adverse conditions due to weather, topography, or when suppressing wild land fires. Adverse conditions could be present when assisting in all-risk emergency response when mobilized. Duties are typically performed within the Commonwealth of Kentucky; however, some functions may occur in other states.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
