Forest Officer - Underfill Entry ($3766.00 - $5730.00, Monthly plus benefits).
  • Two years of natural resource experience in wildland fire suppression.
  • One 3-6 month season is equivalent to one year of experience for seasonal positions only.
  • 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Will be required to take and pass the physical fitness Work Capacity Test at the arduous level.

**Note: Must obtain the Class B Warden certification within the trial service period.
General Duties:
  • Perform forest fire suppression activities.
  • Perform pre-suppression readiness activities.
  • Perform fire prevention and education activities.
  • Assist with grounds and facility maintenance.
  • Occasionally perform forest tasks involving slash burning, pre-commercial thinning, road brushing, etc.
  • Observe, receive, and obtain information from all relevant sources.
  • Manage Aviation resources.
  • Complete aviation documentation, load calculations, manifests, aircraft shift tickets, maintenance records and daily activity logs.
  • Communication with local unit, dispatch and other agencies.

Skills we are looking for:
  • Preference given to candidates with aviation qualifications such as Helicopter Crewmember (HECM) or Helicopter Manager (HMGB).
  • Knowledge of aircraft operations in fire suppression.
  • Knowledge of agency aircraft operations guide.
  • Knowledge of forestry laws, rules, and regulations for the public.
  • Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Set goals, prioritize, organize, and accomplish assigned work.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Demonstrate strong ability to work independently.
