Job description

Eagle Harbor, LLC, a subsidiary of Three Saints Bay, LLC, and a Federal Government Contractor industry leader, is seeking a Forensic Evidence Technician.
Position Responsibilities:

  • Examination of DNA-related evidence.
  • Receive and account for boxes of evidence and related materials from the TEDAC Evidence Management Unit (EMU).
  • Visually inspect and process evidence and related materials for trace evidence; photograph evidence and related materials; remove hairs and fibers from evidence and related materials; create microscope slides for hairs and fibers; mount hairs and fibers on slides; and create inventory of slides.
  • Conduct preliminary fabric and cordage examinations using (stereo) microscopes.
  • Ensure daily performance check of calibration on instruments used for forensic examinations and analysis, as appropriate.
  • Author, case notes, photographs, chain-of- custody forms, electronic communications, and secondary evidence inventories detailing findings of analysis.
  • Use the current database network for evidence inventory, tracking, and flow.
  • Maintain proper chain-of-custody of all forensic material under examination.
  • Follow all QA/QC procedures, protocols and adhere to LD policies and procedures related to its accreditation and safety standards.
  • Support activities, functions, or duties as defined in future TOs.
  • Participate with senior personnel in research studies which involve systematic, critical, and intensive investigation necessary for the development of experimental processes.
  • Perform all the services and responsibilities of Latent Print Examination.
  • Perform the collection of DNA samples from IED and IED-related material for additional DNA processing using proper techniques to preserve the DNA and prevent contamination.
  • Support activities, functions, or duties as defined in future task orders.
  • Research, develop, and author whitepapers and information papers, as required.
  • Analyze images of latent prints to determine suitability for searching in an automated system.
  • Enter/encode latent prints into the NGI system in preparation for launching searches.
  • Conduct automated latent print searches in any system as identified by the SBAU.
  • Screen potential candidates in accordance with (IAW) SBAU practices, as appropriate.
  • Populate designated files within NGI, as appropriate.
  • Prepare all required documentation for the case file.
  • Conduct QC measures in accordance with SBAU practices.
  • Maintain equipment, as necessary, to ensure proper and efficient job performance.
  • Complete and pass the LD latent print discipline training requirements and appropriate latent print competency test within the time as set forth by the SBAU.
  • Support activities, functions, or duties as defined in future TOs.
  • Research, develop, and author whitepapers and information papers as required.
  • Provide basic managerial/administrative support for case documentation requests from internal and external sources.
  • Support functional areas in preparation of case information and items for court testimony.
  • Send communications to appropriate field offices or FBI Headquarters (HQ) as required.
  • Assist with document tracking or developing database / spreadsheet applications to track case files, audit reports, and other documentation management actions.

Position Requirements:
  • Fully adjudicated Top Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in the natural sciences or a closely related field.
  • Twenty-four credit hours in the physical or life sciences (e.g., chemistry, biology, or geology).
  • One year experience as a Physical Scientist in an accredited laboratory.
  • Demonstrated ability to study and pass training, examination, and testing assessments.
  • Basic computer skills, to include use of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook).
  • Must be well organized, flexible, and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Must be able to communicate fluently verbally and in writing, in English, at the bachelor's degree level, be able to understand and execute complex verbal and written instructions in English, be able to express complex issues verbally and in writing in English.
  • Must be competent in operating an IBM-style microcomputer in Windows and/or UNiplexed Information Computing System (UNIX) environments.
  • Must be able to discuss complex technical issues in English, using a telephone.
  • Must be competent with Microsoft Office products in a Windows environment and be competent with computer file management in Windows and/or UNIX environments (creating and deleting files and directories, finding, renaming, copying, and moving files, etc.).
