Job TitleFood Technologist
LocationSpringfield, Missouri
Description

Performs laboratory and pilot plant services to directly assist Scientists in research work.  Responsibilities include production of formulations, inventory maintenance for ingredients and finished products, cleaning and maintenance of lab and pilot plant equipment, administration of the sample request program, teamwork and collaboration.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Production of Formulations
    • Produce formulations from PCM formulas as assigned.
    • Safely operate Pilot Plant equipment including Spray Dryer and Pilot Plant Concentrates Equipment, including sanitation of said equipment.
    • Produce small scale dry blend formulations and small-scale concentrate formulations in the lab as needed.
    • Maintain a working proficiency with PCM, Salesforce, and label system.
    • Develop and produce pilot plant manufacturing instructions and processes.
    • Perform advanced lab testing as required. 
  • Inventory Maintenance
    • Assist in maintaining inventories of raw ingredients needed for lab and pilot plant production.
    • Assist in maintaining stock item inventories for sample requests. 
  • Cleaning Maintenance
    • Participate in clean up schedules for Lab, Pilot Plant, Cooler and Freezer with the assistance of Product Development Scientists.
    • Comply with all required safety procedures and utilize required personal protective equipment for all tasks.
    • Maintain GMP’s throughout the facility. 
  • Sample Program Administration
    • Monitor Sample Requests every day through PCM and Salesforce, compile sample request paperwork utilizing PCM and other applicable programs to assure that samples are filled and shipped each day.
    • Effectively communicate with Sales, Customer Service, Marketing and Product Development regarding sample requests and ability to make products for sample requests. 
  • Teamwork and Collaboration
    • Actively contribute to continued improvement of laboratory and pilot plant systems.
    • Participate in sensory panels.

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required, undergraduate degree preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of laboratory and pilot plant processes and procedures.
  • Solid working knowledge of food science principles.
  • Ability to utilize development processes through PCM.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instruction.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates organizational skills, paying special attention to details.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to perform all aspects of the Sample Request Program.
  • Ability to communicate with various departments including the plants, Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Quality Assurance, and Product Development in a professional manner.
  • Proficient knowledge of DairiConcepts products, characteristics, and applications.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English

 

Compensation Target

$17.93-25.00
