Description: Under general supervision the Food Services Employee is responsible for the preparation and serving of a variety of food items to students, staff, and visitors in the college dining hall facility.
Major Duties:
- Prepares and serves food items at scheduled mealtimes according to standardized procedures
- Assists in preparing and serving meals for banquets, civic group meetings, receptions, which may be outside of normal work hours
- Operate and maintain food service equipment and dishwasher (cleaning/sanitizing kitchen pots, pans, dishes, trays, glasses and utensils)
- Monitor and appropriate temperatures of coolers, freezer, fryer and ovens.
- Maintain a safe, clean and sanitary work environment following safety food handling procedures to ensure the health and safety of customers
- Clean workstations, service areas and storage areas
- Assist in stocking shelf items, freezer, and coolers as items are received
- Clean tables and chairs, remove trash canisters as needed
- Observe safety rules and report any accidents to the manager
- Provide outstanding customer service to all internal and external customers
- Moving tables and chairs as set up requirements request
- May be required to operate cash register to include collection of money, making change, and operating the credit card machine
- Report maintenance needs to supervisor immediately
- Other duties as assigned
Competencies:
- Oral, written and basic computer skills/knowledge
- Knowledge of basic food safety practices, and personal hygiene
- Position requires a flexible schedule including early morning and evening hours.
- Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals to include how they are used and react when mixed (MSDS)
- Skill in dealing with the general public and interpersonal relations; courteous and polite
- Knowledge of, cash register
- Ability to work cooperatively with others
Driver's License Requirement: Valid GA Driver License
Monetary Transactions: This position may perform monetary transactions, such as receiving cash, check, and credit card payments. Position will require a credit check.
Physical Demands:
- The Employee must be able to lift, push, and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 lbs.
Work is typically performed with the employee standing for long periods of time or walking in various settings.
Travel Requirements: Limited travel may be required
