Description
Under the supervision of the Manager General Services the selected candidate will oversee and supervise the operation of the Port Authority facility cafeterias as well the internal catering services The cafeterias are located at the George Washington Bridge, the Holland Tunnel, the Lincoln Tunnel and the Port Authority Technical Center. The primary function of the cafeterias is to provide Food Services for Port Authority personnel, contractors and visitors. The primary function of the catering services is to fulfill internal requests for catering via our Port Authority facility cafeterias. Catering locations are across all Port Authority facilities including those without a cafeteria. This is a temporary mobility assignment that is expected to last for approximately 12 months. This is not a permanent assignment.
Tasks include but are not limited to:
- Train and supervise Food Services supervisors;
- Train and supervise Food Services personnel as needed;
- Set and maintain standards for providing a high level of customer service;
- Ensure established standards for cleanliness, food preparation, quality portioning, and presentation are maintained;
- As needed lead Food Services personnel in the preparation of food;
- Monitor the preparation of monthly menus and the ordering bi-weekly food orders;
- Ensure procedures to safeguard and deposit cash;
- Maintain records of cash deposits and customer transactions;
- Oversee receipt and accounting of all merchandise;
- Ensure supervisors and staff maintain adequate inventory of supplies;
- Ensure that Food Services supervisors provide for the repair/servicing of equipment to ensure continuity of the operation;
- Supervise and perform various administrative functions, such as timekeeping, vacation scheduling, and financial report preparation, e.g., monthly food cost percentage reports and billing for special functions as needed;
- Oversee catering services for special functions;
- Provide feedback to Food Services supervisors and personnel to enhance the operation and maintain standards;
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:
- High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution;
- Five years of experience in Food Services with at least three years at the level of Second Cook or in a Supervisory capacity;
- A valid driver's license;
- Serv Safe Certification;
- Applicants must meet all performance and attendance standards and have completed all probationary periods.
