Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Food Services Supervisor, assists with planning, organizing, and monitoring of the county’s Nutrition/Food Service program activities to meet the needs of the children and families in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and USDA requirements.
Essential Functions:
1. Assists with monitoring and observing classroom activities and meal times to ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and USDA requirements.
2. Substitutes in the kitchen as needed.
3. Supports the Food Service Supervisor with special nutritional needs and food allergy plans for children.
4. Assists with purchasing and ordering food.
5. Assists the Food Service Supervisor with providing training to Cooks, Cook Assistants and other staff in the area of food preparation, sanitation, health and safety standards and chemical exposure that meets USDA regulations and Head Start Performance Standards and other applicable regulations.
6. Assists the Food Service Supervisor to provide nutrition education and trainings to parents as needed.
7. Maintains technical and professional knowledge.
8. Contributes to a team approach by attending staff meetings, parent meetings, and other meetings as required.
Education and Job Requirements:
High School diploma or GED and a minimum of 2 years of quantity food service work experience.

Pay: $19.19 - $20.59 per hour
