Food Service Worker
Reports to: Food Program Manager
Job purpose
Beatrice Mayes Institute is seeking a Food Service Worker to complete the following duties and responsibilities:
- Serves and monitors the distribution of meals, and ensures that guidelines for special diets are followed.
- Prepares dining areas for the serving of meals and sets up serving lines.
- Cleans dining, service, and food preparation areas.
- Cleans and sterilizes dishes, kitchen utensils, equipment, and facilities.
- Assists in the preparation of modified or special diets and in performing calculations for special diets.
- Assists with food preparation to meet snack and meal schedules.
- Operate kitchen equipment, a computer and assigned software.
- Assists in receiving food deliveries.
- Attend meetings, in-service training and workshops as assigned.
- Performs other related work as assigned.

Other attributes needed and desired for this role are:
- Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and some experience in food preparation, kitchen maintenance or a related field.
- Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
Knowledge of sanitation principles applicable to food serving and kitchen maintenance is a plus.
Working conditions
Indoor/Kitchen environment. Subject to heat from ovens and cold from freezers.
Physical requirements
Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment. Ability to carry and/or lift up to 50 pounds.
