PRIMARY PURPOSE: Provide quality and timely support to the Food and Nutrition program of the district by maintaining food safety, quality, and an organized school food warehouse; provide timely deliveries and pickups of food to all kitchens and warehouse.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or GED
Forklift Operator certification preferred
Valid Class C Texas driver's license and proof of insurability with District insurance carrier
Food handler's certification required within three months of employment (training provided by Food
Service Department)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to read and interpret documents such as order forms, safety rules, and basic instructions
Ability to calculate figures and amounts to fill orders as requested
Ability to operate equipment customarily used in a warehouse operation including but not limited
to manual transmission on district vehicles, forklifts, pallet jacks (both manual and electric), and delivery trucks
Ability to coordinate, organize, and make deliveries of Food Service stock or other deliveries as
necessary to optimize routine time, supplies and equipment
Assist in the inventory management of Food Service commodities and stock
Ability to pull Food Service orders and other stock and make ready prepare for delivery to the district school kitchens and facilities
Ability, disposition, and aptitude for successful completion of assigned tasks and duties as prescribed by job necessity or district needs under the direction of a supervisor
Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply laws, policies, procedures, regulations, and codes as needed to successfully complete job duties
Proficient computer skills for data entry and completion of online orders
Bilingual Spanish, preferred
Ability to utilize technology resources relevant to position
Minimum Experience:
One year in warehouse operations and/ or delivery
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES:
Pull, stage, and deliver Food Service and other stock items as assigned
Assist in the management of Food Service and other stock item inventories
Complete work orders in a timely manner as assigned
Maintain accurate account procedures and ensure they are completed in a timely manner
Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly warehouse
Ensure Food Service vehicles are kept cleaned, fueled, and properly maintained
Practice and model high standards of safety in performance of all duties with emphasis on safe driving skills
Respond in a timely manner when contacted regarding urgent situations or emergencies (during or outside of normal business hours)
Practice food safety by monitoring temperatures of warehouse's cooler and freezer
Assist with the assembly and maintenance of small pieces of equipment such as shelves, can openers, wheels, etc.
Assist with the removal and disposal of equipment to and from the warehouse to all school kitchens and Food Service areas
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors in line of authority

SUPERVISORY RESPONSBILITIES:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written). Should be able to interpret procedures and analyze data for decision-making. Frequent in-district and occasional in-state or national travel. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
Tools/Equipment Used: Light to medium truck or van; standard office equipment including computer and peripherals, two-way radio; forklift or hydraulic lifting equipment, hand truck, dolly, pallet jack; small hand tools
Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/ squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; frequent walking, climbing ladders and scaffolding; grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving
Lifting: Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds without assistance, 30-55 pounds with assistance, and more than 55 pounds with appropriate assistance
Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, and vibration; work around moving objects and vehicles; work a variety of shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays, and have schedule altered with little or no warning
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress
Safety: Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy, practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training, wearing personal protective equipment as required, reporting injuries and incidents immediately to the supervisor, and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
