Form of workJOB SUMMARY:Responsible for managing Food Service operations within a school building. Ensure the breakfast and lunch program follows policies and procedures and meets federal and state requirements. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Additional duties may be assigned.
ManagementOversee and coordinate kitchen staff (approximately 15-17 people).Delegate tasks, create clear communications and provide a positive environment for staff and students. Recording keeping: daily/weekly/monthly reports such as inventory, revenue, and production records.Inventory and Receivables: Ordering necessary food and supplies from requisition forms to support meal plans set out by the Food Service director. Maintain proper inventory records and processes.Directs and participates in ensuring the overall safety with the facility through implementation of safety procedures in accordance with OSHA guidelines.Food PreparationMeal and recipe preparation according to daily/weekly meal plans provided by the Food Service director.Responsible for ensuring proper presentation, standard portion control and maintenance of proper serving temperatures.Oversees and coordinates Food Service personnel in the preparation meals and adherence to food/health standards.Ensure meal components meet the USDA and National School and Lunch Program standards.OperationsLead co-workers to assure compliance with department standards and maintain inventory and cash control procedures.Oversees and participates in the following of sanitation and safety guidelines according to department and government standards.Maintains proper usage and storage of chemicals.Customer ServiceRepresents department and district in a courteous, efficient and friendly manner in all customer/employee interactions.
Skills & Abilities:Basic knowledge of arithmetic, spelling, English and grammar. Accuracy in checking, posting, proofreading and counting, requiring basic skills knowledge. Must meet state and local health requirement for food handlersAbility to perform physical tasks such as, but not limited to, lift and carry 10-30 lbs regularly; stoop; push; pull; wipe.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:Previous Food Service and supervisory experience preferred.COMMUNICATION SKILLS:Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, and interact effectively with all aspects of the school community is required.Ability to solve conflicts, maintain confidentiality and remain open to various ideas and viewpoints.MATHMATICAL SKILLS:Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages.Ability to perform mathematical calculations to balance assigned budget items, invoices, bills, purchase orders and other related items.REASONING ABILITY:Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines while complying with established policies and procedures of the building and district.Identifies and resolve problems in a timely manner, gathers and analyzes information skillfully; uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.Ability to concentrate, think, read and learn is necessary to perform the essential job duties.OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Free from communicable disease.Able to follow oral and written directions.Able to work without supervision.Leadership ability and qualities necessary for good management.Able to perform all tasks.Able to perform all assigned responsibilities within time framePHYSICAL DEMANDS:While performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly sit, talk, listen, and respond.
