This position will be responsible for implementing and managing all functions of the Food Service program for the district. Provide oversight for the day-to-day operations of the program. Demonstrate the leadership and administrative skills necessary to develop, achieve, and maintain the best possible Food Service program in support of the mission, vision, and beliefs of the Windom School District.
This position is set to begin in May 2024.
205 Contract Day position – Any additional non-contract days worked are compensated.
Education and Experience, Licenses, Certificates and Registrations (Minimum level of education and experience required)
Eligible candidates for the director position at a small School Food Authorities (SFA) must have one of the following qualifications *Bachelor's degree, or equivalent educational experience, with an academic major in a specific area which include Food and Nutrition, Food Service *Management, Dietetics, Family and Consumer Science, Nutrition Education, Culinary Arts and Business.
*Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent educational experience, with any academic major or area of concentration (see list above), and either a School Nutrition Association (SNA) Level 4 Certification or at least one year of relevant Food Service experience. Relevant Food Service experience may include managing Food Service operations at a healthcare facility, restaurant, civic/community organization, or other type of establishment; this may include documented volunteer or unpaid relevant Food Service experience.
*Associate degree or equivalent educational experience, with an academic major in a specific area (see list above) and one year of relevant Food Service experience (see list above).
*High school diploma (or GED) and a minimum of three years of relevant Food Service experience (see list above).
Eight hours of food safety training is required for all new Food Service Directors and required every 5 years:
*Training must have been completed within five years prior to hire or completed within 30 days of his/her starting date.
*The director does not have to be a Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM), but this certification would fulfill the food safety training requirement.
*This food safety training is in addition to the required continuing education/training in the first year of employment.
