Position: Food Service Cook
Shift Information: Monday-Friday
*Seasonal position following a school calendar (Sept-June, no weekends or holidays)
Location: West Islip, NY 11795
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies.
- Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces).
- Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff.
- Answer, report and follow manager instructions.
- Clean up station and take care of leftover food.
- Stock inventory appropriately.
- Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion.
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards.
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers.
Qualifications:
- Experience in the food industry as a cook
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques and saftey standards
- General short order cookery knowledge
- Ability to handle knives and other kitchen tools safely
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to bend, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with others in a team
