Job Description
We are currently looking for a qualified and motivated Cook responsible for preparing, cooking and executing the daily foodservice menu and catered events at the direction of the Chef and Sous Chef and in alignment with Cater To You standards.
As the premiere food service provider to private schools in the Greater NYC area, we prepare over 11,000 meals daily for preschool through high school students. Meals are always created on site, from scratch, using the finest products and a commitment to providing traceable, local, sustainable and seasonal meals. We have used our hands on approach to fresh food to provide daily food service and catering to our network of schools for over 25 years.

Key Responsibilities:
- Safely utilize all cooking equipment, knives and slicing machines
- Prepare daily foodservice meals and catered events at the direction of the Chef and Sous Chef and in alignment with Cater To You standards
- Adhere to Cater To You standards in production and portion size
- Maintain daily production records timely and accurately
- Properly heat, cool and store all food items
- Prepare and serve food for special events as needed including nights and weekends
- Supports and participates in common teamwork with all kitchen colleagues, completes all cleaning assigned cleaning tasks
- Properly clean and maintain all equipment, work tables and spaces that are used
- Report necessary equipment repair and maintenance to Chef Manager
- Smile and be friendly and polite to fellow employees, students, faculty and visitors
- Report to work on time in a neat and clean uniform. Well-groomed hair and personal hygiene are essential
- Ensure that there is a safe and secure environment for all students, faculty members and visitors
- Support and assist all unit members in common tasks and help out in other areas as needed by the Chef Manager

Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; Culinary degree preferred
- Minimum 2-3 years cooking experience
- NYC Food Handler’s or ServSafe Certificate
- Ability to read and understand all product labels, recipes, and directions
- Ability to fill in SOP logs
- Ability to provide excellent Customer Service including problem resolution in a calm and professional manner
- Ability to work with a diverse population
- Ability to communicate in a proficient and professional manner with co-workers, students and faculty
- Ability to work in kitchen environment with exposure to high temperatures and damp conditions
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Occasional pushing, pulling, lifting, stooping, and ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
- Frequent, continual, intermittent flexing, reaching or rotation of the wrist(s), spine and or torso
- Must follow Cater To You and DOH safety standards and precautions
