Position: Food Service Deli/Grill Cook (Floater)

Location: Bronx, NY

Shift Information: Monday-Friday

*Seasonal position following a school calendar (September-June, no weekends or holidays)

Lessing's is looking for a dedicated and reliable Food Service Deli/Grill Cook for several of our school’s cafeterias. This candidate will be part of a great team that is always looking to improve the students lunch experience. Applicants must enjoy working in a school setting, and provide a positive and uplifting meal experience. This is a "Floater" position, reporting to several schools in the Bronx, NY area.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook food items according to recipes and quality standards
• Operate grill and other kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
• Ensure proper food handling and storage procedures are followed
• Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate food preparation
• Assist with menu planning and catering events as needed
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Order and monitor supplies

Qualifications:

• 1 year of experience in the food industry as a cook or grill cook
• Knowledge of food preparation techniques and saftey standards
• General short order cookery knowledge
• Ability to handle knives and other kitchen tools safely
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with others in a team
