Summary:
The Food Safety Manager is responsible for managing all corporate Food Safety activities associated with supporting specific WPR Business Units. The Food Safety Manager will be responsible to monitor and ensure compliance and execution of WP Rawl Food Safety and regulatory programs. The qualified individual will be planning, managing, and coordinating daily activities for the FS department. This position requires a hands-on individual that has an extensive Food Safety background.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the day to day of the Sanitation Departments
- Ensure proper labor levels for entire Sanitation Teams to include hiring, career training and accountability of duties. Currently direct reports of two QA Supervisor w/17 Associates, Sanitation Supervisor w/15 Associates as well the Vendor Approval/Consumer Affairs Coordinator
- Maintain and continuously strive for improvements for all Food Safety and Sanitation
- Ensure and Maintain Food safety and Sanitation Budgetary Compliance
- Ensure successful completions of all 2nd and 3rd party audits accordingly i.e. Primus GFI, Organic Processing, U.S. Military and Major Retailers.
- Ensure an effective and efficient NPD New Product Development Process
- Manage effective in-house microbiological testing procedures and protocols
- Maintain up to date vendor approval and consumer feedback database
- Periodically compile and submit quality assurance reports to upper management
- Technical support of Agriculture Department as it relates to regulatory and customer compliance
- Participate and attend industry Food Safety regulatory meetings and conferences
- Have FSMA competency, GFSI scheme background
- Be familiar with all aspects of Pathogen testing and prevention.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, chemistry, food science, or closely related discipline; Advanced degree preferred
- 4+ years’ experience in food manufacturing quality systems management, with demonstrated success at the manager level
- Strong quantitative and critical thinking skills
- Self-directed with the ability to work independently as well as in groups
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively develop and implement strategic objectives and plans
- HACCP Certificate Required
- SQF Level 2 Practitioner Certificate Required
- SQF 3 program development a plus
- Proficient in Basic Microbiology Analyses
- Bi-Lingual English/Spanish a plus 10%
