SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The food runner is vital in maintaining and providing hospitable, effective, and knowledgeable service. The Food Runner/Expo is responsible for cultivating a strong relationship between the service staff and the kitchen staff to properly execute orders, to validate food modifications, to understand and follow guidelines when handling allergies, and to garnish and to finalize dishes, and to properly deliver and server food to the correct guest (including take-out orders).Our Food Runners/Expo team must obtain a true passion for food and hospitality. Food Runners/Expo are required to have a strong understanding of our dishes and their ingredients, contribute to running side-work, and be self-motivated to go above and beyond our set expectations and standards to deliver excellent experiences and hospitality to our guests.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Understanding and abiding to all Francie’s policies, procedures, and standards
- Effectively communicating to the kitchen staff to prepare food orders
- Validating food orders and ensuring that all modifications and allergies are followed
- Garnishing and finalizing dishes
- Ensuring all plates are wiped and clean before leaving the pass
- Delivering food from the kitchen to the guests in a timely manner
- * Ensuring accurate communication with the expediter
- * Verifying food, table numbers, and seat numbers before leaving the line
- * Informing the expeditor and server of any issues with food delivered to guests
- * Informing the expediter and server of any food that does not meet our high standards before leaving the line
- Providing a professional, positive, and informed hospitality to build strong relationships with our guests
- Looking for opportunities to exceed guest expectations
- Asking guests if they need anything further after all food is delivered to the table
- Responding promptly and courteously to any requests
- Answering basic questions about food and beverage; as well as other restaurant functions and services
- Removing any additional unneeded items from the table upon delivering food
- Performing side work at the beginning, end, and during each shift
- Owning and maintaining the expo area; ensuring cleanliness and organization at all times
- Restocking entire expo area with paper, plateware, silverware, fry cups, plate towelettes, serviettes, condiments, lavash and tapenade service, and all other needs for product and preparation
- Ensuring guest are satisfied with food and service upon delivery and that they have items needed
- Being ready and willing to help fellow staff members as situations arise
- Being ready and willing to assist bussers (back servers) with clearing and resetting tables
- Being ready and willing to provide additional table side food experiences
- Thanking guests for their visits and inviting them back
- Acting in a proactive manner and communicating professionally to help avoid or solve any challenging situations
- Follow daily and weekly side-work and additional cleaning schedules or tasks
- Staying available to to fill in as needed to ensure a smooth and efficient operation as directed by the management team or immediate supervisor
- Exhibiting a sense of urgency and keeping up with the fast-paced restaurant environment
REQUIREMENTS:
- Prior restaurant experience preferred
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language of the workplace
- Must have a positive attitude, hospitable demeanor, desire to serve guests, and enjoy working as part of a team
- Must possess basic math skills and the ability to handle money and operate a point of sales system
- Must be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time ( up to 8 hours)
- Must be able to safely list and easily maneuver various items frequently weighing up to 50 pounds
- Maintain an clean and well-groomed appearance per Francince standard
- Must follow safety and health code procedures closely
- Must be able to work on holidays and/or weekends
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 30 per week
