Food Scientist Product Development Director for a Food Processing Plant in the Phoenix AZ area.
This is NOT a chef position. Requires experience with R&D of food processing in a manufacturing plant. Food science and Food Product development, specifically with non frozen dairy/ice cream.
The Food Scientist Product Development Director plays a crucial role in overseeing existing product support, driving new product development, ensuring quality design, and synthesizing all aspects of product performance to deliver a compelling consumer proposition.
Food Product Development Director Primary Responsibilities:
- 6 + years of increasing leadership responsibility in Food Product/process innovation.
- Innovate product design solutions to align with Sales/Marketing plans.
- Provide direction and framework for the new product innovation process.
- Lead, manage, and ensure the timely completion of Product Development (PD) projects.
- Integrate new capabilities from internal manufacturing and/or co-packer technology platforms.
- Prioritize and allocate resources for optimal project portfolio delivery.
- Offer functional expertise in innovation management for differentiated and relevant product designs.
- Resolve key technical business issues within the brand/segment.
- Establish Standards of Excellence and Best in Class benchmarks for the team’s clarity on product design objectives.
- Champion Design Quality for the segment.
- Set Product Quality Standards for all segment/brand products in collaboration with the Quality Assurance Director.
- Develop and implement staffing and training strategies for technical competence, creativity, teamwork, and broad business knowledge within PD.

- 6 + years of increasing leadership responsibility in Food Product/process innovation.
Desired Education:
- Food Science, engineering, chemistry, or equivalent BS degree required, with a preference for a higher degree.
Full-time Salary Range: $90,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year

Schedule:
- 8:00am – 5:00pm
- Monday to Friday with Overtime
- Weekends as needed.
