Job Summary

The Focus Area lead is responsible for the performance of a significant technical, non-technical, and/or intelligence related programs or multiple smaller non-technical projects in accordance with contract requirements and company policies, procedures, and guidelines. The Focus Area lead will be the primary face to the customer and take ownership of the management of Project Managers and demonstrate strong overall program support. The Focus Area Director is primarily responsible for the growth of existing contracts. Additional duties include the identification of new opportunities for the Business Development team to act on.

Some of these are, but are not limited to, adhering to normal working hours, meeting deadlines, following company policies as outlined by the Employee Handbook, communicating regularly with assigned supervisor(s), and staying focused on the assigned tasks including company meetings, and completing other tasks as assigned.


Responsibilities

  • Support standardizing the management of operational and contractual aspects of programs and projects
  • Supports the consistent development and implementation of mission-critical strategic and operational initiatives in core technical and non-technical programs
  • Provides consistent thought leadership to project analysis and process improvement activities
  • Responsible for the employment, training, coaching, mentoring, and programmatic evaluation of assigned contracts
  • Support the identification of project / program problems, trends, and determines required process system improvements
  • Oversees the change management processes including ownership of documentation libraries, communication plans, process training, etc.
  • Supports clearly documenting research reports including creation of diagrams and procedure documentation
  • Responsible for driving program level change through to implementation
  • Possess a broad knowledge of most technical and business resources and use them to effectively coordinate required contract oversight
  • Identify, screen and evaluate new solution opportunities to address unmet customer needs (existing contract growth).
  • Utilize the appropriate technologies and ensure that customers have the solutions they need, when they need them, and in the media best suited to their requirements.
  • Collaborate with architecture and operations teams to ensure solution compatibility with company standards.
  • Continually enhance job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, sharing professional publications, maintaining professional networks and professional organizations


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Technical Discipline or a Business Degree with a concentration in Technology Management, and / or Management and leadership
  • Demonstrated technical and supervisory experience in the management of multi-task, multi-function projects within the Department of Defense or Federal contracting environment
  • Demonstrated experience managing, developing, evaluating, and supporting teams of 15+ technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of Department of Defense and/or federal procurement practices
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills, including an understanding of contract business economics and financial resources
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing reports and briefings
  • Demonstrated analytical and time-management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work as an active member of a team
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills; the ability to call, connect, and interact with all levels of an organization and/or potential customers
  • Ability to professionally and confidently communicate with Executives, customer / partner / company
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Must possess an active DoD Secret security clearance


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in a technical discipline
  • Demonstrated 2+ years’ experience supporting the NAVAIR or NAVSEA organizations
  • Demonstrated 1+ years’ business development experience to include opportunity identification, capture, teaming, proposal development, and proposal review
  • PMP certification
