Evenings (United States of America) Summary
Under general supervision and following established procedures, maintains state and federal mandated standards of safety and cleanliness by performing assigned task that includes but are not limited to: dry mop, wet mop, top scrub, stripping and refinishing floors, carpet spot removal, carpet cleaning procedures. Provides scheduled floor maintenance, corrective and salvage care of corridor and other assigned areas of the Hospital in accordance with Environmental Services’ procedures, schedules, and standards of performance. Performs other duties as assigned in support of CFV and EVS department goals, must be helpful and eager to assist and satisfy patients, visitors, and staff. Ability to read, write, and speak English in order to communicate effectively, to follow instructions, job assignment schedule, work orders and chemicals labels. Must have considerable knowledge of the procedures, materials, and equipment that apply to the individual position. Must be able to maintain effective working relationships and communication levels with employees, supervisors, Administration, physicians, and the general public. Knowledgeable of the principles of universal precautions; routinely and consistently makes use of these principles. Also, knowledgeable of appropriate use of personal protective equipment and infection control barriers and devices. Some experience in Institutional Floor Care is preferred. Ability to perform under stress when confronted with any emergency. Ability to be flexible and adjust to any changes in the environment and work schedule. Ability to handle confrontation with staff, visitors or patients in a professional and calm manner. Ability to be handle staffing issues with professional, calm and courteous manner. Must have excellent interpersonal skills in interacting with patients, visitor and coworkers. Adaptability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. May come in conduct with blood or bother body fluids containing blood borne pathogens. May be subject to hazards: Infectious/ contagious disease, needle sticks, chemicals, slippery floors and working while on stepladder. May be subject to atmosphere conditions: dust, fumes, odors, and aerosol sprays.(Constant = 67-100% of work day, Frequent = 34-66% of work day, Occasional = 33% or less of work day.) Constant STOOPING: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. CROUCHING: Bending body downward and forward by bending leg at the spine. STANDING: Particularly for a long period of time. WALKING: Moving about on foot to accomplish certain tasks TALKING: Involves expression and exchange of ideas. Communicating clearly and effectively with patients, visitors and staff. HEARING: Perceiving the nature of sound at a normal range. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication. Frequent REACHING: Extending arms and hands in any direction. PUSHING: Using upper extremities to press against something in order. LIFTING: Raising an object from a lower position to a higher position. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force constantly. Normal visual acuity necessary to check for cleanliness and neatness of work against established standards. Ability to see stains on floors, hallways and carpet.
