Job DutiesThe RN is responsible for ensuring quality health care and restorative services to maximize residents’ health potential, functional capacity, and quality of life. The RN will provide direct and indirect nursing care for residents of the Health Care Center and Highland Court Nursing areas. The RN is responsible for resident assessment, care planning, intervention and evaluation to meet resident needs. The RN is responsible for the direction and supervision of LPNs, certified nursing assistants, and restorative technicians and ensuring the provision of quality care and health services. Other duties include:
- Coordinates resident admissions, transfers and discharges.
- Ensures nursing care is delivered in accordance with accepted standards of practice.
- Observes, assesses and reports resident conditions or changes and documents them in accordance with St. James Place’s policies and state and federal guidelines and regulations.
- Administers medications and treatments as ordered by the physician and in accordance with polices/procedures. Reviews medications record (MARS) for completion and accuracy of transcription and administration.
- Ensures that narcotic records are accurate for each shift. Notifies Director of Nursing of all drug and narcotic discrepancies noted.
- Problem solves using effective management techniques.
- Performs coaching and disciplinary actions as appropriate.
The ideal candidate has graduated from an accredited school as a Registered Nursing. Unencumbered license to practice Registered Nursing in this state. Minimum of 1-year supervisory experience in long term care or health care setting preferred. Current Health Care Provider CPR certification.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; ability to lift and assist with resident transfers.
