You Will Contribute By:
- Oversees equipment inspections, preventative maintenance schedules and service, reviews vehicle and equipment failures, and is responsible for providing reliable and safe vehicles and equipment for use across the distribution center. Reviews and evaluates the performance of all vehicles and equipment, addresses excessive wear and tear or high failure rates, and takes corrective action, as needed, which may include removing equipment from use, to ensure that work teams and individuals have the necessary vehicles and equipment to perform their jobs. Recommends replacement of vehicles and equipment based on assessment of service and maintenance costs versus replacement cost.
- Leads the maintenance of safe work practices and conditions and is accountable for maintaining a clean and safe environment for associates and visitors at the garage per company policies and health and safety regulations. Oversees scheduling of work teams and initiates short and long-term planning with supervisors to ensure the assigned mechanics and support personnel meet the needs of the business under different and changing business conditions.
- Assesses daily and weekly output, identifies trends in productivity, and directs the allocation of people, parts, tools, and equipment to address day-to-day and week-to-week demand for maintenance and repairs. Leads the development of improved work processes and procedures that enhance productivity and effectiveness of assigned work teams, equipment, and space, and is accountable for achieving the incremental results from the implementation of these improvements.
- Prepares the operating budgets for the garage, reviews and finalizes operating budgets with the distribution manager, and is accountable for developing and implementing work processes that ensure achievement of budgetary and service goals.
- Oversees record keeping, audits, and reviews maintenance records, and is accountable for the accuracy and completeness of maintenance, fuels, lubricants, tires, and parts purchasing and inventories. Purchases fuels, lubricants, tires, and parts to maintain vehicles in service and is accountable for managing the costs of purchases in accordance with budgets and operating needs.
- Conducts performance appraisals and coaches direct reports to enhance individual and team performance. Coaches and trains associates to ensure equal opportunity for professional advancement. Assists in the development of individual and team performance improvement goals that support the achievement of company objectives.

Skills
- D.O.T. qualified to drive CMV
- Extensive experience and skill in vehicle and equipment maintenance related to distribution, warehouse, and transportation
- High standard of integrity and reliability
- Good PC skills including experience using Windows, word processing, spreadsheet, and email software
- Strong leadership skills including team facilitation, training, and motivation
- Adept at preparing and delivering an address or presentation in a business setting
Years Of Experience
- 7-10: Vehicle/equipment maintenance, parts and fuel management, and/or transportation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 7-10: Extensive technical knowledge and skills related to internal combustion, diesel, and electric-powered vehicles
