Your Job:
The Fitness Specialist is responsible for providing exercise floor supervision; high quality customer service through interacting with members and program participants; delivering health and fitness programs and services for member engagement and retention; instruct group exercise classes; provide personal training; conduct fitness assessments, exercise prescriptions, and orientations; provide facility oversight; may assist the Wellness Department Director and wellness coaches with events.
Your Job Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in a related field (Exercise Science, Kinesiology, etc.)
• Current American Heart Association CPR certification
• Personal Trainer Certification, Health Fitness Specialist or equivalent (NCCA accredited)
• 3+ years working at a hospital-based fitness center or community fitness center
• 2+ years personal training and exercise prescription for various clientele (including but not limited to active aging, overweight and obese)
• 3 months of leading group fitness class(es)
• Proficiency in fitness assessments and exercise prescriptions
• Excels in interpersonal communication and customer service skills
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Ability to organize and prioritize work demands
• Ability to multi-task at times
• Ability to work independently, self-motivated
Your Job Responsibilities:
• Creates and maintains a safe and effective environment for members, clients, patients, self, co-workers and facility;
• Performs initial fitness assessments; develop/implement individual fitness/exercise programs (including personal training sessions) for members/ clients of the Center in a safe and prudent manner
• Coordinates and instructs various fitness classes to meet the member's needs
• Ensures complete, accurate and timely documentation and communication of member/client information
• Contributes to the team and facility by way of development and delivery of offerings to increase participation, member utilization and retention
• Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building
• Takes personal responsibility and initiative for performance and professional growth and development
