Fitness Coordinator
FLSA/Classification: Non-Exempt/Hourly
Pay Rate: $18.00 - $22.00/hr, Depending on Experience; SIGN ON BONUS: $1,000
Availability: Monday to Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, weekends as needed.
Reports to: Director of Life Enrichment
Summary:
Responsible for working with the wellness coordinator to plan and implement individual and group fitness along with educational programs for residents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:
- Interviews and assesses residents and employees in conjunction with the policies and procedures established by the wellness department.
- Responsible for planning and implementation of classes, personal training, and fitness assessments that promote healthy lifestyles.
- Primary duties include conducting fitness and aquatic classes.
- Records participation of residents in programs as required.
- Conducts and/or participates in continuing education programs as appropriate.
- Sustains long-term participation by providing motivation, implementing new programs and developing new materials.
- Monitors the condition of exercise equipment and ensures proper preventative maintenance activities occur.
- Develops short and long range goals for fitness programs and reviews programs in order to determine if the resident’s needs are being met.
- Maintains a clean and organized working environment where safety is considered of the utmost importance.
- Performs all related duties as required by the Director of Resident Life.
General Qualifications/Requirements:
- Good interpersonal relations with proven communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to interface with residents, family members, and employees.
- Must have a good knowledge of fitness programs training methods and there proper application.
- Knowledge or experience in fitness/wellness for seniors is preferred.
Minimum Education/Skills/Experience/Credentials:
- High School or equivalent it required. A Bachelor’s degree in health science (physiology, kinesiology) and fitness is preferred.
- Personal training and/or group exercise certification.
- Life Guard Certification.
- CPR Certification.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit for 2-3 hours during an 8 hour shift.
- Must be able to stand and walk for 3-4 hours during an 8 hours shift.
- Must be able to frequently lift 10 to 25 pounds while walking or bending at the waist and knees.
- Must be able to occasionally push, pull, or move cart with hand weights exerting a force of 75 pounds.
- Must be able to frequently stoop, bend and kneel for fitness classes.
- Must be able to reach over head, front and sides of body.
Other regulated requirements:
- Must be willing to undergo pre-employment background check, including (MVR) moving vehicle records.
Must have or be willing to receive the Flu-Shot Vaccine, and TB testing.
- Must be willing to undergo pre-employment drug screening.
- Must be willing to undergo biometric screening.
