Permian Basin Overview
ConocoPhillips and its heritage companies have operated in the Permian Basin for almost 100 years. Across New Mexico and Texas, the company holds conventional positions in the Northwest Shelf and Central Basin Platform, and an unconventional position in the Delaware Basin. Permian saw significant growth in 2021 with the acquisition of Concho Resources Inc. in January 2021 and the addition of Shell’s Permian acreage in December 2021. At year-end, the company held approximately 1.5 million net acres in the Permian Basin.
Net production for the Permian in 2022 was 461 MBOED.
Description
The First Delivery MSO will be responsible for start-up and commissioning of new wells and facilities within the Delaware Basin. You will be responsible for working with flowback contractors, ensuring safe operations of assigned facilities, and responding to alarms as necessary.
This is a Safety Sensitive position.
Responsibilities may include:
- Safely executing the start-up plan of new wells and facilities
- Inspecting gas and oil wells, tanks, meters, separators, compressors, and attached piping components for leaks or unusual conditions and taking corrective action
- Assessing remote locations to check wells, maintain normal operating levels, pressure and flow on separation equipment, making adjustments to automatic and manual controls.
- Gauging tanks for sale or transfers of crude oil and water
- Operating and troubleshooting rental compressors, flowing gas wells, gas lift wells, testing wells and operating of sand traps and flowback equipment
- Utilize electronic remote well supervision to optimize production and reduce safety and environmental impact
- Maintain chemical injection rates, start up and shut down wells
- Entering daily volumes, well tests, downtime, and injection volumes into a computer database
- Monitoring daily production inputs into electronic data capturing software and comparing input data with output correctness
- Reporting production losses, causes, and resolutions into databases
- Monitoring and optimizing production and costs within area of control for new wells and facilities
- Complete hands-on production equipment repairs
- Executing new facility walk-throughs, management of change (MOC’s) and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR’s)
- Regulatory work including agency testing requirements, change of status, tank and meter numbering for new facilities
- Operate a company provided vehicle to perform job duties in a safe manner
- Implement all safety, environmental, and company policies and procedures outlined in the ConocoPhillips Management System
Basic/Required:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
- Current / Valid driver’s license
- 1+ year direct experience with oil and gas production practices, equipment, and terminology
- 1+ year experience working with pressurized equipment
- 1+ year experience in troubleshooting and repairing facility equipment
- Willing and able to perform/align with the following (with or without reasonable accommodation): Work in extreme temperatures or adverse weather conditions, Work in multiple geographic areas every day, Work both in and out of a company owned vehicle, Wear appropriate PPE as required, Climb heights up to 24 feet to gauge tanks, Walk, bend, stoop, lift, push, and pull, Use hand tools to make repairs, Work weekends and be on call
- Willing and able to work an 8/6 rotation
Preferred:
- Associates degree/Trade certificate or higher in Petroleum Technology, Process Technology, or other related technical fields or foreign equivalent
- 3+ years of direct experience with oil and gas production practices, equipment, and terminology
- 1+ years of experience with flowback equipment
- 1+ year with gas lift experience
- Basic level of proficiency with Microsoft O365 applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, and Word)
- Ability to build accurate and legible reports
- Ability to react to visual and aural signals, alarms, and instructions
- Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what is right
