This position is of an administrative nature, supporting the planning and directing of the overall municipal recreation programs including After School and Camp Programs, Youth, Adult and Senior Programs, and oversight of the waterfront supervision during the summer. We are looking for a seasoned recreation professional who can positively manage a dynamic team of program coordinators and bring the department to a new level of management.

Position Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent;
• Valid Motor vehicle operator’s license with no serious infractions;
• Possess/obtain and maintain a Maine EMT/AEMT/Paramedic license as noted in contract or department policy throughout course of employment with BFD;
• Firefighter II Certification or be able to complete the certification within a reasonable time determined by the Chief;
• Any equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, abilities, and work experience may be considered.
• Successfully pass the BFD Physical Ability Test (PAT) or hold a valid CPAT card/certificate; background check; and medical exam.

Pay & Benefits

Full-time Firefighter/EMT/AEMT/Paramedics are non-exempt, union positions. BFD offers qualified candidates full-time experience lateral starting pay and vacation commensurate with years of service. Effective March 1, 2024, the base pay ranges are: EMT- $24-$31/hour; AEMT- $26.50-$33.50/hour; Paramedic- $29-$36/hour. See the Union CBA on-line for additional information.

Hours & Schedule

This position works a forty-two (42) hour/week schedule. The schedule consists of a 24-hour shift, followed by 2 days off, a 24-hour shift, and 4 days off.

Pay: $26.60 - $36.00 per hour
