Firefighter Cadet

The City of Johns Creek is seeking dynamic, giving, team-player individuals to join our team as full-time Firefighter Cadetswho want to become full-time Firefighter EMTs after training. We will prepare you to face all hands-on situations, from properly fighting fires to handling medical calls in an intense training program.

Competitive Pay: With an expected pay of $25.68 per hour or $53,423 annualized, you will be starting your career with great earning potential. On top of that, we are currently offering a generous $5,000 sign-on bonus* to welcome you to the team! We offer excellent healthcare options and fantastic retirement benefits, including 12% of your base pay to 401a, $1 for $1 up to 5% match in the 457(b) retirement plans with financial adviser services available at no additional cost (this could be a total of 22%!). After graduation and assignment to field operations with a 24 hour on-shift and 48 hour off-shift rotation, you will receive a 5% pay increase to $56,629 annualized.

• Bonus will be paid after successful completion of Fire and EMT school.

As a non-sworn Firefighter Cadet, you will receive top-notch training and support to develop the knowledge, skills, and physical capabilities necessary to excel in this demanding field. But that's not all, you will also attend EMT/AEMT training, expanding your capabilities and enhancing your value as a first responder. A promotion to a sworn Firefighter - EMT position awaits those who successfully complete both trainings and receive the final stamp of approval from our Fire Chief.

YOUR SCHEDULE

During training, you work 40 hours/week, Monday - Friday. After becoming full-time status, you work a 24-hour rotation with 10 shifts/month.

REQUIREMENTS

• 18 years or older
• High school diploma or equivalent
• No current or future VISA sponsorship requirements
• Valid Georgia driver's license
• Ability to hear within the normal audible range with or without correction
• 20/20 vision with or without correction
• No felony convictions
• Insurable driving record
