Join our Bronx Terminal team as a Fire Monitor and Asphalt Dispatcher, where you will play a crucial role in maintaining operational safety and efficiency at our terminal. In this position, you will oversee fire monitoring, coordinate the loading of asphalt trucks, and implement facility security measures.

Essential Responsibilities include:

  • Loading asphalt trucks, ensuring accurate information on bill of ladings and providing off hours loading of ULSD trucks.
  • Controlling main gate access while following Sprague and Department of Homeland Security protocols.
  • Maintaining proper operation of boiler, steam, and asphalt heating systems.
  • Monitoring fire equipment and coordinating with FDNY as needed.
  • Conducting multiple rounds to inspect pipelines, containments, etc., for leaks.
  • Managing plant communications, directing inquiries and relaying information to supervisors.
  • Enforcing security measures to prevent unauthorized entry or vessel tie-ups.
  • Providing dock watch in accordance with U.S.C.G. regulations.

Education / Experience / Skill Requirements:

  • Must be flexible to work Monday, Thursday and Friday from 7am-3pm and Saturday/Sunday from 3pm - 7am
  • Must be able to pass the P13 test administered by FDNY.
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC card.
  • Working knowledge of PC in Windows format.
  • Solid written, oral and interpersonal skills with ability to relate to staff, truck drivers, outside vendors and government
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bilingual Spanish is a plus.
  • Driver's license is preferred.
  • General mechanical skills are a plus.

Physical activity/strength requirements are demanding and may include:

  • Frequently (34-66% of the time):
    • Sitting, standing, walking, hearing and talking.
  • Occasionally (1-33% of the time):
    • Bending/stooping, squatting, reaching forward/overhead.
    • Climbing stairs, ladders, slopes (e.g., tank ladders/stairs/ramps).
    • Grasping/handling, crawling, kneeling, twisting, neck flexion/extension, balancing.
    • Getting in/out of trucks.
    • Lifting/carrying 1-10 lbs, 11-20 lbs, 21-100+ lbs (e.g., oil, steel parts, tools).
    • Pushing/pulling 1-10 lbs, 11-20 lbs, 21-100+ lbs.
    • Exposure to outside weather conditions including extreme heat/cold, noise, solvents, petroleum products, chemical agents, fumes, odors, slippery surfaces due to weather conditions, dust, vibrations, uneven surfaces.
    • Driving and use of power tools/equipment.
    • Navigating the facility by foot and in a vehicle after sunset and before sunrise.

The rate for this position is $20.00 to $21.50 per hour, based on experience.
