Fire Chief

Job Overview:

• We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fire Chief to lead our fire department. As the Fire Chief, you will be responsible for overseeing all fire suppression and prevention activities, managing personnel, and ensuring the safety of the community. This is a critical leadership role that requires strong decision-making skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to public safety. This is a civil service position. Once cover letter, application and resume are received, candidate will be notified of testing/interview date.

Duties:

- Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures

- Prepares annual budget and assures that department is operating within budget
- Direct and coordinate firefighting operations during emergencies
- Manage and supervise fire department personnel
- Conduct regular training sessions to ensure staff readiness
- Inspect fire equipment and facilities to ensure compliance with safety standards
- Collaborate with other emergency response agencies in the community
- Investigate the cause of fires and prepare detailed reports
- Develop and maintain relationships with community stakeholders
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in firefighting techniques and equipment

Qualifications:

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in firefighting OR three years in a fire department with two years of comparable experience and/or educational training.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage a team
- Strong knowledge of firefighting techniques, equipment, and procedures

- Must be able to certify to Firefighter I level.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to make quick decisions under high-pressure situations
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- CPR and First Aid certifications required
- Commercial driving experience preferred

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
