Job Overview
- Primary function: Install, test, maintain, and repair fire safety systems to include fire detection, fire suppression, gas detection and reporting system.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Working under the Fire Alarm and Suppression Superintendent, the Fire Alarm Technicians completes jobs and assist Fire Department as needed. Perform other duties as assigned and assist other trades on projects.
- Performs periodic maintenance, diagnose, repair, and modify fire detection/suppression systems including gas detection systems in accordance with the Preventative Maintenance Program, NFPA standards, and manufacturer's guidelines.
- Prepares and documents work plans, job hazard analysis, job safety analysis, code required forms, checklists, and internal procedural documents as required per contract.
- Program, modify and test Fire Monitoring system.
- Timely response to emergency service calls during and outside of normal working hours.
- Reviews and follows established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), suggests revisions as needed.
- Upload, modify and download databases on fire equipment including computer systems.
- Perform tests and inspections to meet contractual requirements.
- Be able to work with an international workforce composing of other trades and groups.
- Perform all quarterly, semi-annual, and annual inspections and testing to include exhaust suppression system inspections, tests and semi-annual maintenance on all kitchen ventilation hoods and fire suppression systems including Fire Pump test and repair and hydrants in accordance with the PWS, manufacturer's instructions, applicable NFPA Standards.
Qualifications & Certifications
- NICET Level II in Water base fire sprinkler and/or fire pump experience (or 5 years equivalent).
- Clean agent (hfc227ea) /Stat-X systems background highly desired.
- Fire pumps and sprinkler systems including Pre-action and Ansul deluge foam systems testing and repair is highly desired.
Preferred Certification
- NICET Level II (or 5 years equivalent) in Fire Alarm Systems or Inspection and Testing of Fire Alarm Systems.
- Notifier ONYX (3030/640/320)
- Simplex 4010/ES
- Fire-lite series panels.
- MSA Gasgard XL Systems.
- Ansul R-102 Hood systems/ Ansul foam suppression highly desired.
- Knowledge of I.T. (Networking, HMI, SCADA) highly desirable.
- Knowledge of electrical circuits for industrial applications.
- Valid home-of-record driver's license.
Skills, Abilities And Years of Experience
- Interpersonal skills and the ability to develop effective working relationships.
- Competent to ensure compliance with the applicable IBC, IFC and NFPA codes, and satisfaction of the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)
- Skilled in utilizing design drawings, specifications, and wiring diagrams to accomplish tasking.
- Minimum intermediate level computer skills with MS Office Suite experience to include Word, Excel and Outlook
- Experience providing excellent customer service in supporting contract responsibilities.
- Hands on experience analyzing situations and making technical and safety decisions based on specifications and applicable codes and manufacturer guidelines.
- Communicates effectively in writing, on the telephone and in person.
- Background in Maximo.
- Knowledgeable of PPE and proper maintenance of PPE
- Culturally aware
