Job Description
The Financial Analyst performs independent analysis for the organization in support of the annual budget, long range financial forecast, and quarterly budget reports.

• Assist in the preparation of the annual budget by working with the departments, preparing worksheets and presentations
• Assist in the preparation of the quarterly financial reports
• Assist in the monitoring of departmental budgets
• Research and compare financial data with comparison cities
• Maintain historic database, analyze data and assist in the revenue and expenditure forecasting
• Assist in the preparation of the Long Range Financial Forecast
• Assist in the implementation of performance measures
• Assist in cost of services and analysis and cost allocation plans
• Review and process budget reallocations and amendments
• Assist in tracking and accounting for capital expenditures, including monitoring capital improvement projects and associated budget /contract schedules
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or related field
• Must have at least three to five years of experience in budget, management analysis or accounting
• Additional years of relevant experience may substitute for educational requirement

Supplemental Information
Knowledge of:

• Governmental accounting principles and practices
• Extensive knowledge of municipal budget and management practices, policies and procedures

Skill in:

• Spreadsheet application and word processing
• Proficient working with mainframe applications concerning accounting, purchasing and related fields
• Effective communication in both verbal and written form

Ability to:

• Apply federal, state and local statutes to accounting procedures and practices
• Work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment
