Job Description
The Financial Analyst performs independent analysis for the organization in support of the annual budget, long range financial forecast, and quarterly budget reports.

- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget by working with the departments, preparing worksheets and presentations
- Assist in the preparation of the quarterly financial reports
- Assist in the monitoring of departmental budgets
- Research and compare financial data with comparison cities
- Maintain historic database, analyze data and assist in the revenue and expenditure forecasting
- Assist in the preparation of the Long Range Financial Forecast
- Assist in the implementation of performance measures
- Assist in cost of services and analysis and cost allocation plans
- Review and process budget reallocations and amendments
- Assist in tracking and accounting for capital expenditures, including monitoring capital improvement projects and associated budget /contract schedules
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or related field
- Must have at least three to five years of experience in budget, management analysis or accounting
- Additional years of relevant experience may substitute for educational requirement
Supplemental Information
Knowledge of:
- Governmental accounting principles and practices
- Extensive knowledge of municipal budget and management practices, policies and procedures
- Spreadsheet application and word processing
- Proficient working with mainframe applications concerning accounting, purchasing and related fields
- Effective communication in both verbal and written form
- Apply federal, state and local statutes to accounting procedures and practices
- Work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment
