Duties and Responsibilities :The Financial Aid Operations Specialist is critical in the day–to-day operations of the Federal College Work Study Program, fiscal reconciliation of federal aid programs, reporting and technical system updates and strategic communication to the Bowie State University campus community. The incumbent works as part of a team that is responsible for the following:
- Federal work-study seminars
- Assignment process of college work-study students
- Collaborate between FWS program and university payroll office
- Review of bi-weekly federal work- study payroll earnings
- Division registration initiatives
- Fiscal reconciliation of the Federal Pell Grant Program monthly
- Fiscal reconciliation Direct Loan Programs monthly
- Respond to telephone inquiries, emails and referrals from the call support team
- Preparation of federal, state and institutional reports
- Routine operations related to Alternative Loan Programs
- Record keeping and data review
- Routine operations related to the disbursement process
- Routine operations related to strategic student messaging and communication
- Bachelor’s degree required
Experience:
- Experience in Financial Aid preferred.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities :
Must be knowledgeable of federal, state and institutional regulations with emphasis on federal college work-study policies and procedures. Knowledge of mainframe and personal computer software and student information systems required.
