Job description

Financial Aid Counselor
Provide a full range of Financial Aid counseling services for past, current and prospective students and families; analyze, as applicable, Financial Aid based on federal, state, and institutional policies; and participate in outreach activities both on- and off-campus.
Have a commitment to excellent customer service; interpersonal and written communication skills; ability to work with others as well as independently and manage multiple tasks and projects.
Awards returning students Financial Aid and assists in the awarding of new students.
  • Determines need eligibility and funding available for student offers
  • Completes verification of Financial Aid files according to federal regulations
  • Meets with students and parents to offer Financial Aid information and advice as necessary
  • Meets with prospective students and parents to support the enrollment efforts of the college
  • Processing Financial Aid Appeals
  • Issues awards offer for Returning International Students
Manage Default Prevention.
  • Monitor monthly default roster and contact delinquent borrowers by telephone and/or by mail to assist them with their questions.
  • Work with ECSI and FSA online and phone to update and assist past borrowers with loan issues
  • Pull reports from ECSI website to get monthly delinquent borrowers
  • Counsel students regarding loan debt management
  • Conduct entrance and exit interview sessions with students to offer information about federal loans and advice as necessary
  • Work with Advancement to provide loan counseling services to Alumni
Manage Work-Study Program as it relates to Financial Aid.
  • Coordinate all communication with incoming and returning students: work study applications process and lead orientation session for incoming students.
  • Work with Business Office to monitor completion of all payroll forms
  • Reviews edit reports for postings and resolve any discrepancies with the payroll office.
  • Monitor student’s earnings and notify student and supervisor if maximum earnings have been reached.
  • Reconcile Federal and Coe earnings with Business Office payroll.
  • Maintain Work Study Handbook
Supervise FA work-study students
  • Supervising and training student workers.
  • Assigns tasks
Coordinate and Promote Office activities
  • Financial Aid Awareness Month
  • National Student Worker Appreciation Week
  • Constitution Day-Communicate with Political Science Department to make sure Constitution and Citizenship Day requirement met on September 17th
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Quantitative and logical reasoning skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Leadership skills with a competitive nature.
  • College admission experience desired.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States as visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States as we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
  • Successful completion of a background and driver check in accordance with Coe College policy.
