Job Description:
The Financial Aid Counselor position is an entry-level position that participates in our Financial Aid Training program to build a front-facing student service career. The training program is expected to be completed within 6 - 12 months. Upon successful completion of the training program within the first year, the Financial Aid Counselor is considered for promotion into the Financial Aid Advisor position. The Financial Aid Counselor is responsible for the initial Financial Aid (FA) contact with prospective students and recurring contact with continuing students, advising and assisting students with FAFSA completion and setting the expectation for what students should anticipate during the FA process. This position supports student success within their Financial Aid options.
Principle Duties:
- Serves as the primary contact for students to promote FAFSA completion and missing documents for new and continuing students (i.e. FAFSA verification, MPN, ELC, etc.)
- Performs outbound calls and emails to students to complete initial FAFSA.
- Supports the Financial Aid Advising team by sorting and responding to incoming emails, helping students obtain book vouchers, adding institutional scholarships to student accounts, reviewing student eligibility for Federal Work Study, and answering inbound student calls for general Financial Aid questions.
- Counsels incoming students on Financial Aid resources.
- Assists with student orientations on campus and via webinars.
- Stays up to date on Financial Aid information by attending Financial Aid workshops.
- Successfully completes Financial Aid training program within 6 to 12 months.
- Other duties as assigned by FA management.

Position Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of customer service experience
- High School Diploma required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
This opportunity is budgeted at $24.62 - 27.70 base compensation. Additional compensation factors may impact total compensation.
