Job Overview

Spirent is looking for an experienced Field Services Engineer in Wireless Telecommunications and Networking. The Field Services Engineer (FSE) is part of the Sales/Support team and contributes directly to the success of the organization, where he/she provides a high level of direct technical support to key customers within an assigned geographical region and account(s). This position is responsible for Spirent’s Wireless Test Solutions and is focused on customers developing Advanced LTE and 5G Cellular systems, chipsets, and devices. Spirent is the market leader in Wireless Test Solutions that are used by major chipsets, cellular phones, and network equipment OEMs.

 

The successful candidate will provide the highest technical and professional capabilities and be recognized as a technical reference and resource by the customers. The fast-paced, technical nature of this role offers a challenging and dynamic environment within which one can develop and enhance their technical skills in wireless communications while working with a wide range of customers developing next-generation communication systems and devices. The FSE will work closely with the Spirent development team as they develop advanced features for the product line. This range of technical exposure and experience will enable the candidate to develop a robust technical foundation to grow in their career.

Job Responsibilities
  • Deliver onsite technical service and support for customers.
  • Help in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and debugging systems.
  • Provide customer system installation and training as needed.
  • Promote and educate customers on Spirent support processes and SLAs.
  • Keep stakeholders (e.g. sales, customer, technical peers, management) informed of actions, and progress on technical product issues.
  • Respond to customer inquiries either in person or via telephone, online networks, and email.
  • Communicate with Spirent product teams regarding bugs and proactively conduct follow-ups to ensure fixes are received and tested by customers.
  • Advise management on product development issues arising from product problems identified through customer service and product experiences.
  • Process and maintain pertinent information within our support CRM systems.
  • Work with Spirent Support and Engineering teams to help solve customer issues.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering – with a wireless communications and signal processing/RF focus or equivalent from an accredited university required or equivalent work experience. A Master's degree with a technical focus is a plus.
  • 5 years of job-related experience.
  • Solid understanding of wireless communication (Cellular, Wi-Fi).
  • Related experience in digital signal processing and RF/Physical Layer – internships, prior experience a plus.
  • Coursework and/or experience with scripting and/or programming.
  • Experience with tools such as Matlab is a plus.
  • Experience with Wireless Test Equipment a plus.
  • Problem-solving skills – ability to assess problems and identify solutions.
  • Strong listening, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to explain and present complex concepts and procedures clearly.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Well organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

 

 

 

Annualized Salary Wage Range: $101,000 - $146,000

Spirent applies geographic differentials to its pay ranges. The pay range assigned to this role will be based on the geographic location from which the role is performed. Starting pay is commensurate with relevant experience at or in line with the minimum requirements.
