At Corteva Agriscience in Wisconsin, we are looking for a 3-month Field Research Intern to join our team and participate in the day-to-day activities involved in product development. This internship will allow you to work with many staff members and see the different activities that go on throughout the summer. In Janesville, we have a variety of different activities and specialty projects that you could participate in such as drones and crop protection evaluations. These are just some of the many activities that you can be involved in as a Field Research Intern in Janesville.
Responsibilities:
Assist with field activities that may include planting, field scouting, plot maintenance, data collection and pollinating.
Participate in collecting high quality data of specific traits important to plant breeders for advancement selection.
Travel to different research fields and facilities within our testing area consisting mostly of southern Wisconsin.
Assist staff members in their day-to-day tasks learning about the importance of each task and how it pertains to the plant breeding process.
Assist Biotech and Crop Protection scientist with trial evaluations involving entomology, plant pathology, and herbicide resistant trait efficacy.
QualificationsMain requirements include:
Students pursuing a Bachelor's or Associate's degree program in agronomy, plant breeding, agriculture studies, agricultural systems technology, plant science, genetics or a related field with a broad interest in the agriculture industry.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
Must have strong computer skills and be proficient with Microsoft Office software. Experience with databases and macros is a plus.
Must be able to work in a team environment, demonstrate leadership skills and be self-motivating to work productively on your own at times.
Other requirements include:
The ability to work in crop research fields.
Have limited exposure to dust, noise, temperature variation, and some agricultural pesticides.
Moderate lifting up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work long days or shifts during peak seasons; including some weekends.
Must have a valid drivers license and also be willing to travel between research fields and some other research facilities as needed.
