Field Integration Technology Intern (Spring 2024)

Expected Length of Internship: 

The internship is expected to start on January 8, 2024 and last through May 24, 2024

Experience: 

• Currently working towards a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, or PhD degree
• Prior internship or work in a manufacturing, testing, and/or R&D facility is desired but not required.

Education:

• Currently working towards a Bachelor of Science (4-year program), Master of Science, or PhD degree
• First Solar encourages all interns to register their internship with their university.

  • Good knowledge of physics and mechanical concepts
  • Proficient with spatial visualization and mechanical design
  • Experience in experiment design and data collection
  • Familiar with Microsoft O365 or comparable OS Workspace
  • Skill with computer aided design, simulation, and visualization will greatly benefit candidate.

Basic Internship Scope (Project):

• The intern is expected to work on improving the packaging process for new solar modules. Key deliverables are identifying areas to improve and implement design changes.
• The intern is expected to work on improving testing procedures for testing solar module packaging. Key deliverables are to develop, improve, and implement internal durability testing.
• The intern is expected to work on analysing key metrics from solar module installation and testing data. Key deliverables are consolidating data sources, processing data, and extracting engineering metrics.
• Upon the completion of this internship, the intern is required to present their accomplishments and project summary to the leadership team.

Estimated Salary Range: 

• $18 - $24

Project Site (non-craft) Requirements:

• Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift.
• Will climb stairs on an occasional basis.
• Will lift, push or pull up to 27 pounds on an occasional basis.
• Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
• 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required.
• Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
• May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
• May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to, steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards)
