Overview: The Field Estimator is responsible for visiting project sites, evaluating the scope of work, and providing precise cost estimates. This role is vital in ensuring that the company accurately bids on projects and maintains profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Site Visits: Conduct on-site visits to assess the scope, requirements, and conditions of potential home improvement/remodeling projects. This may include residential and commercial locations.
- Data Collection: Gather all necessary data, including measurements, material requirements, labor costs, and any special considerations that may impact the project.
- Cost Estimation: Utilize industry knowledge, pricing databases, and internal resources to calculate accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Documentation: Prepare detailed project estimates, including itemized breakdowns of costs and quantities. Ensure that all estimates are well-organized and easy to understand.
- Communication: Collaborate with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to clarify project details and requirements. Maintain clear and open communication throughout the estimation process.
- Cost Analysis: Analyze and review cost estimates to identify areas for potential cost savings or value engineering.
- Bid Preparation: Assist in the preparation of bids and proposals, ensuring that they are competitive and align with company goals.

Qualifications:
- Experience: Prior experience (minimum 5 years) as a Field Estimator in construction, home improvement, or home remodeling services is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in construction/home improvement or remodeling estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess complex projects and provide accurate estimates.
