Field Engineer/ Senior Field Engineer
Responsible for direct hands-on work of a crew/s and/or subcontractors to produce units of construction that are assigned on a project by a superintendent or project manager. Ensure crew always operates within Harper’s safety and quality standards. Plan and assign work; track and account for labor hours and productivity; supervise activities of a construction crew/s and/or subcontractors.
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
- Ensure work is completed safely within all OSHA Standards.
- Examine and inspect work progress, equipment, and construction sites to verify safety and ensure that quality standards and specifications are met.
- Teach subordinates safety and quality standards in a proactive manner.
- Lead crew and participate in performing a wide variety ESD task to include - exterior pipe installation, concrete forming/pouring/finishing and process equipment installation
- Assign work tasks to crew members.
- Should understand all tools and equipment for pipe installation, concrete forming/pouring/finishing, and process equipment installation.
- Immediately address any safety, quality, and/or production issues observed or brought to your attention by anyone. Responsible for the safety of the crew.
- Complete required safety documentation (i.e. PTPs, Toolbox talks, and equipment inspections).
- Complete required quality documentation (i.e. pipe test, concrete leak test).
- Complete required personnel documentation (i.e. timecard entries).
- Read construction drawings, specifications, and submittal logs.
- Take measurements off drawings, figures, and shoot grade/elevation for construction requirements. Gain proficiency with layout instruments such as builders level, transit, and total station.
- Gain proficiency in heavy equipment operation and utilization.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform medium work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up-to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must possess the visual acuity to operate equipment and motor vehicles, perform trades tasks, inspect the work of others, and review work for accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness.
