Fiber Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY:

Golden State Net is looking for a highly motivated Fiber Engineer to help build a robust fiber network from the ground up. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fiber design as well as Geographical Information Systems (GIS). We are looking for someone who can bring innovative ideas for creating processes and driving complex solutions to resolution. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: NA

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Maintain fiber database to ensure the contents are current with the field

· Assist in capacity planning as it relates fiber availability

· Develop splice plans to maximize the efficiency of the network

· Produce fiber designs to be implemented in the field

· Organize and label network elements in the database

· Receive and audit GIS data for completeness and accuracy

· Review sales engineering design and determine backbone fiber route

· Interface and implement projects across multiple regions and stakeholders

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS:

· Understanding of underground fiber optic construction techniques

· Ability to multitask

· Proficient verbal and written communication skills

· Passion for problem solving and fiber design

· Experience in Google or Microsoft office products

· Ability to read and interpret maps, documents and field notes

· Demonstrated knowledge of fiber database management and network planning a plus

· 1+ years experience in project management

· 2+ years experience in outside/inside plant engineering and fiber design

· 2+ years experience working in GIS systems

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

· BS or MS in a technical discipline or equivalent experience in a related field

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
