The Family Advocate works directly with families in the areas of social service, health, nutrition, and dental care facilitating family engagement and helping them identify and meet their own goals. This position is under the direct supervision of the EHS Child Care Partnership Program Manager or the Family Community Partnership Manager.
What you will be doing:
- Identifies, recruits, and enrolls families eligible for participation in the EHS, HS or EHS Child Care Partnership programs. Support parents with applying for childcare subsidy, if needed.
- Engage and communicate, using unconditional positive regard (UPR), with families as partners in their children’s healthy development and school readiness.
- Build collaborative partnerships with families by identifying strengths and needs using the family success road map and engage families on goal setting.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with community partners and strengthen access to resources and training identified as priority goal areas for families.
- Effectively manage workload and ensure timely accurate record-keeping and documentation.
- Foster a sense of community and sense of belonging among families to cultivate family leadership and support parent advocacy efforts through participation in family learning parties, parent committee/family engagement network meetings, and/or policy council.
- Participates actively in assessment and continuous quality improvement activities for the program and agency.
Education/Training/Experience:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
2. One year paid, full-time experience in human services or related field, required.
3. Credential or Certification in Social Work, Human Services, Family Services, Counseling, or related field, required. OR Able to obtain within 18 months of hire a Credential or Certification in Social Work, Human Services, Family Services, Counseling, or related field, required.
4. Associate degree in human services or related field, preferred.
