The Role:
Factory ZERO is our first, all-electric automotive assembly plant and the blueprint of General Motors' electric future! We have a corporate vision of “Zero crashes, Zero emissions, Zero congestion.” Our most novel products like the Hummer EV and our very first autonomous vehicle, Cruise Origin will be assembled right in this facility. This requires us to employ the most upbeat, capable, and innovative talent to ensure we meet the challenges of developing the new manufacturing processes required to assemble these outstanding products! As the assistant Plant Launch Operations Manager (APLOM) you will own a whole vehicle launch, supporting all departments of paint, body, and General Assembly. EV&AV launches are one of a kind and as an APLOM you will drive resolution while defining the right path forward. In addition, you have Supervisory responsibility for a medium/Small group of employees in the implementation and execution of the Launch process.
What You’ll Do:
- Shares responsibility for the assigned program launch with the Program Engineering Manager (PEM) and Manufacturing Integration Manager (MIM)
- Responsible for all Plant Readiness activities, operation readiness, and operator training.
- Own the Plant Launch Team and all Manufacturing Builds Events (PVB, MCB, PPV, MVB
- Support assembly/manufacturing input into product design/design changes
- Facilitates resolution of major plant issues across functional groups, ensuring that the problem-solving process is being used (PRTS), root causes established, owners assigned, and containment is in place
- Ensure that the quality plan developed by the Quality Launch Manager is carried out
- Responsible for line balance, quality stations, torque monitoring, and error proofing equipment, including the attainment of the program GMS targets
- Engage in discussions with the MIM and MCE for Launch Team staffing
- Coordinates with plant M.E. leadership at the assembly plant to build and publish a weekend work package, which identifies all work being performed at the plant during construction on all-launch phases of a new product program
- Establish housing requirements, communication devices, and launch action center facilities for the Launch Team
- Responsible for facility issues, including personnel staffing to support dimensional checks, additional quality reviews, GCA, Direct Run Targets and Master Dot Process
Additional Description
Your Skills and Abilities:
- Degree or equivalent experience related to vehicle/Plant Launch Operations
- 3 years of Vehicle Launch experience in an automotive manufacturing/assembly plant environment
- High level of communication skills and the ability to work optimally with others
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge:
- 5 or more years of Vehicle Launch experience in an Automotive Manufacturing/Assembly Plant
- Detailed understanding of GMS Standards/Principles
- Leadership experience as a Team Lead, Group Leader, or Manager
- Project Management experience
