Job Description
- Primary duties consist of day to day operation and maintenance of the art industrial two-stage ammonia refrigeration system, containing approximately 160,000# of liquid anhydrous ammonia, as well as other critical facilities support equipment, such as, multiple boilers, compressed air system, high pressure hot water system, multiple hydraulic systems, and various roof mounted equipment.
- Maintain engine room check lists, and logsheets, (this is a common duty to be updated on each shift, relating operating issues, system data, and notes and recommendations, as well as adjustments, repairs, etc.)
- Daily plant walk through, (including roof), noting existing conditions, making sure all support systems are operating trouble free. (cooling units, exhaust fans, hydraulic leaks, air compressors etc.)
- Performing pump outs for routine maintenance,
- Rebuilding ammonia pumps, valves, relief valves
- PSM – understanding the 14 elements.
- Perform daily boiler water testing adding salt to water softeners, routine maint as needed during daily inspection.
- Picking up and carrying 50lbs to job site
- Monitor FES Micro-Link system and historical data.
- Cooperate with other shifts on PM’s and work orders to ensure plant needs receive first priority.
- Make sure “all log sheet data”, as well as PM’s and work orders, are copied to the facilities Supervisor/ Manager, for filing in PSM records.
- Communicate with person at shift change for updates and carry over.
- Perform break down repairs as necessary, otherwise perform scheduled PM tasks on various facilities equipment as directed by your supervisor.
- Operation and maintenance of a Cleaver Brooks boiler system.
- Water softeners and de-areator.
- Boiler feed water pumps.
- Maintenance and repair of 6, 12 mbtu hr., Fulton thermal fluid heaters.
- Preventive maintenance on several plant air compressors.
- Two very large hydraulic systems, maintain oil levels, service filters, repair hoses, replace pumps, etc.
- Various roof-top air make-up units, exhaust fans, ammonia control valve groups, exhaust scrubbers.
- Two very large water heaters, and high pressure cleaning system.
- Maintain and repair a wide variety of pumps for many applications.
- Assist with breakdowns and PM’s on wastewater equipment, such as pumps, blowers, mixers, chemical pumps etc.
- 6 Years in fast paced food production maintenance.
- 2 years Supervisor or Lead experience.
- Demonstrated & proven communication & leadership skills.
- Excellent attendance and work ethic.
- USDA knowledge and experience.
- Good Work Ethics.
- HACCP experience.
- Demonstrated ability & use of industrial tools & meters.
- Good trouble shooting skills.
- Sense of urgency to complete tasks.
- Ammonia Experience.
- Level 1 certification.
