GeBBS Healthcare Solutions is looking to add skilled, experienced, facility Outpatient Surgery/Observation Coding Specialists to their awesome team! These positions are Full-time and 100% remote.

Responsibilities:
- Assign diagnostic and procedural codes to outpatient surgery medical records, including but not limited to Same Day Surgery and Observation, using ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS and any other designated coding classification system in accordance with official coding guidelines;
- Reviews medical records for the determination of accurate assignment of all documented diagnoses and procedures;
- Reviews medical records for data extraction of specified data elements;
- Assign and sequence codes accurately based on medical record documentation;
- Assign the appropriate discharge disposition based on medical record documentation;
- Abstract and enter coded data for hospital statistical and reporting requirements;
- Utilize coding resources as tools to ensure coding compliance;
- Communicate documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues to appropriate personnel for follow up and resolution;
- Meets coding and abstracting quality and productivity standards;
- Adhere to American Health Information Management Association Code of Ethics;
- Track and maintain continuing education credits to maintain professional credentials;
- Communicate with co-workers, management and hospital staff regarding clinical and reimbursement issues;
- Performs all job functions in compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws, and company policies and procedures;
- Completes special projects as assigned, other duties as needed.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Minimum 3 years of direct outpatient surgery and observation coding experience in an acute care hospital, teaching facility or trauma center;
- Credentials to include one of or a combination of the following: AHIMA – RHIA, RHIT or CCS; AAPC - CPC
- Experience and proficiency coding outpatient record types utilizing ICD-10-CM, CPT, classification systems and extensive knowledge of reimbursement methodology, modifier assignment and federal, state and payor coding, documentation and billing requirements;
- Proficient at writing compliant physician queries in accordance with AHIMA Compliant Query Practice Brief;
- Demonstrates ability to understand the clinical content within medical record documentation;
- Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, disease process, pharmacology, and complex surgical procedures;
- ICD-10-CM/PCS training preferred;
- Experience with various coding and abstracting applications, EMR platforms, Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office;
- Demonstrates track record of maintaining acceptable quality standards of 95% accuracy rate and acceptable productivity standards;
- Position requires strong organizational skills, ability to work independently in a multitask remote environment, effective written and verbal communication skills, excellent decision making and problem solving skills and ability to work in a team environment;
- Position requires individual to be dependable and flexible;
- Position requires maintaining confidentiality according to hospital policy and to act in accordance with that policy while engaging in all work assignments.
