JOB TITLE: FACILITY MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN I DEPARTMENT: FACILITIES & GROUNDS
SALARY RANGE: $40,560 FLSA: NON-EXEMPT
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Assistant College Director of Facilities and Grounds
SCHEDULE DETAILS: Full-time/12 month position/PEERS
Position Summary
This position is considered a general maintenance position with a strong emphasis on plumbing. This hands-on role will perform skilled trade tasks to assist in maintaining facilities, (i.e., plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, furniture moving and snow removal). Schedule and perform routine maintenance, repairs, and renovations as needed.
Essential Job Duties
- Identify, install, and repair equipment which requires the understanding of blueprints.
- Utilize work order system to schedule and complete maintenance requests.
- Install, remove, and repair plumbing systems.
- Willing to attend certification training as required and maintain re-certification as necessary.
- Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
- Comply with college policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to assisting with moving furniture, heavy equipment and supplies, snow removal, attending college functions, serving on committees and attending community events.
- Operate company vehicles, equipment, and hand tools to complete assignments.
Non-Essential Job Duties
- Maintain storage area for supplies and equipment.
- Basic understanding of carpentry, maintenance, and electrical components.
- Working knowledge of flooring systems including repairs and full installation.
- Working knowledge of building structures including roofing systems, ceiling, and wall construction.
- Ability to conduct a planned program of preventive maintenance.
- Capacity to order supplies, equipment and materials as needed.
- Attend employee in-service programs to improve work performance.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Utilize technical knowledge and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
- Strong working knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in building maintenance.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Competence to use information technology for professional productivity (such as Microsoft Office Suite).
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Five years construction knowledge regarding installation of commercial plumbing systems and equipment.
- Painting - includes minor touch-ups following damage repair and new coats of paint applied to unit walls.
- Drywall repair - includes filling in small holes caused by nails and minor dings from normal wear and tear as well as repair of larger holes.
- Working knowledge of lock and door hardware systems.
- Experience working within a collegiate setting.

Exposures noted include High Noise, Dust, Vibration, Slippery Surfaces, Moving Machinery, Heat Source and Electricity.
