SUMMARY:
The Facilities Technician performs general maintenance and upkeep of the zoo and reports to the Facilities Director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform general maintenance duties including but not limited to electrical repairs and modification, plumbing repair and modification, carpentry, painting, drywall repair, masonry repair and modification, automotive and equipment repair, welding, minor air conditioning repair, tool and equipment repair, lock repair and maintenance.
- Operate tractors, loaders and other heavy equipment
- Operate power tools and related safety equipment.
- Follow preventative maintenance programs.
- Report to supervisor the need for materials and supplies to complete given assignments.
- Help set-up and break down at special event functions and after-hours parties.
- Work with outside contractors and/or volunteer crews as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Construction and/or maintenance experience
- Knowledge of operation of power tools and related safety equipment.
- Basic computer skills necessary for daily operations.
EDUCATION:
The employee must be a high school graduate or have a GED. College, vocational or technical school studies are desirable.
